Introduce yourself and the things you sell at Future Market

Jerel

Hello, I'm Jerel Limayo, our stuff at the monthly Saturday Market X Future Market are memorabilias and vintage objects ranging from 1960's to the recent years.

Our line up of collectible items include: vintage bottles, music records (plaka), pop icon posters, vintage coins and bills, stickers, books, and lot's of assorted stuff

Gerome

How and what did you got started with memorabilias and vintage items?

Jerel

Even back in the 90's we already have collections like Coca-Cola collector's items, antique lamps, vintage money, bottles, vinyl records.

Back in early 2000's collectors from Manila would visit our house at Taytay, Rizal in search of items for their collections.

A lot of these are music related items like cassette tapes and vinyl records.

Eventually we ventured to collecting other items that were collectible. We have no preference, really. Of what is collectible and what is not, as long as it makes buyers happy XD

Gerome

Talk about some of the items that you sell

Kamusta naman yung reaction ng mga tao sa mga binebenta niyo?

Jerel

Yung mga binebenta naming mga item sa Escolta, resulta sya ng a lot of scientific, engineering and social aspects of selling, yung current line up namin of items na for sale sa Escolta ay pinagaralan naming mabuti over the course of a lot of trial and error from recent Escolta events

As an artist never ko na-imagine na gagamit ako ng Microsoft Excel at scientific backup to be able to really squeeze every opportunity when selling at Escolta.

We started back in April, during the second run of the Saturday Market
.Back then sa Cubao pa yung 98B, nakavisit ako sa place ni sir Mark Salvatus, so doon yung kumbaga first na idea of introducing an informal and underground way of selling artist made stuff which is the Future Market.

Then eventually nung nasa Escolta na sila, they've introduced Saturday Market, yung market s all about Vintage and pre-loved items. We missed the first run.

So nung April 2013, yung second run, we tried our chance on the event, from there we made scientific formulations of what would catch the market's interest, anu yung amount of stuff na dadalin sa susunod na event, what would be the most effective ways of displaying items and the prices.

Some of the items that we sell are 80's to 90's era poster. A lot of people really enjoy vintage posters due to the fact na out of print na sya.

We are really happy to see people very eager and happy, and we are also happy to bring to the people memorabilias they can share to others.

Another item would be vinyl records. Yan yung pinakagusto ng mga tao Whatever the age of the person, 16 years old to 80 years old, vinyl records never seize to amaze a lot of people.

We are really enthusiastic to be able to let our audience to have a part of history of music through vinyl records. Students and youngsters dig vinyl records for their exoticness because hindi nila naexperience iyon, older folks, 35 years old and above naman dig vinyl records because it gives them nostalgia Other items would be bottles, stamps and old money, it doesn't matter if the audience is a pro collector or someone starting their own collection their reactions are mixed and sometimes this items fluctuate in the market, so we are always looking out for the statistics of the sales of these items

Coming from an advertising background, nalaman kong hindi pa sapat yung aking nalalaman about pinagaralan ko nung college. I needed scientific and engineering research and applied physics when it comes to doing a setup at Escolta. The slightest change in inches of arrangements can impact a lot of the sales and presentation
